"D" transmission variations through the years - QUESTIONS???
Ok, ive been on this forum quite a bit of time and it still not clear to me:
#1 Do 2011 335D have any different tranny then 2009-2010? #2 Do 2011-2013 X5 35D's have different trannys then 2009-2010? ^And if so please can you clarify whats the exact name/ZF name of them? Ive read a lot of rumors here and there and understand that newer trannys are better and designed for more torque! The reason im asking is that i have 2010 X5 35D that might be in need of a trannny and im thinking to upgrade transmission to a 2011+ year, im sure they are not directly interchangeable, so how difficult would that be or even possible at all to do this kind of swap?

All e90 335d and e70 x5d use the ZF 6HP28 (sometimes referred to as the 6HP26z). Not aware of any changes to the transmission between model years.
