Clutch = Flywheel Replacement?
Hey Fellas,
It appears that the clutch in my 2011 335is is worn and I am experiencing some slippage. I plan on replacing the flywheel as well but I am having a hard time finding one that is suitable for my 335is. LUC has cheaper options for their DMFW for the N54 platform but for some reason it says it is not compatible with my car. The only option I have been able to find is the BMW OEM flywheel which is $1100. Is there any additional options for the 335is that I would be able to use? Really not trying to spend almost double on a flywheel. |

And the reason the dmfw isn't compatible is it's a 6 bolt vs the 8bolt on the is(might be vice versa) |

I currently have 77k on my 335is. Ive done some reading on here and there seems to be a debate on whether resurfacing can be done. I will ask around my local area to see if any shops are able to successfully do this.
Another thing I read is that BMW claims the Dual Mass Flywheel is good for two clutch changes. Can anyone confirm this? The OEM flywheel is about $1000. It would be nice if I can save money somehow. |

You will not want to resurface a DMFW as it has internal components (balancers) that wear and can cause imbalance issues, chronic CEL/Misfires/Limp. (This is overtime of course and not immediate and would depend on the actual condition of the DMFW). If your car is under 500WHP, you can continue to use/replace DMFW, otherwise if you plan on going above that power level consider something like a Spec Stage 2+ / 3+ and SMFW. <-- These are the most popular sellers in this platform. |
