Bad waterpump?

So my 07 335i just hit 93k miles I also just went FBO inlets and tune a couple weeks ago. I got in my car yesterday started it and got a low coolant light. Checked it and no coolant. I assume this means the water pump either just went out or it's about to, especially given the probability I'm requesting more cooling power with the tune.
Just wanted to know if there's anything else I should check for or just go ahead and order a new WP and thermostat.

was it a yellow warning then turn red ? It's most likely the water pump just said ight i'm outta here

Wait, what? Are you asking if a bad water pump will cause low coolant? No, low coolant is caused by a coolant leak. Look for leaks, add coolant, drive the car, watch for leaks, watch coolant level.

It was a yellow warning and I shut the car off after that and checked the coolant which was empty. Car was running maybe 1 minute.

Wouldn't a bad/cracked waterpump cause a coolant leak? Haven't filled it back up yet. Any auto parts store options for coolant or should I go to my dealership?

It was a yellow warning and I shut the car off after that and checked the coolant which was empty. Car was running maybe 1 minute.

if it had no coolant than , all your coolant came out which is a leak

trace the hoses that connect to the coolant and see if any hose has a hole or anything , usually coolant leak is obvious , the pressure probably cause the hose to burst , or add water and see if it comes out of the coolant reservoir

You have a leak if your reservoir was empty. That will eventually cause your coolant pump to fail or catastrophic failure so I suggest you take care of that ASAP.

Most common are the reservoir and the hose fitting below the OFH.

So I finally got around to checking it out. I filled it with distilled water since if it's gonna leak out anyway why waste money on bmw coolant. Started it and ran for a couple minutes with good popped. Didn't see anything so I shut it off and checked the coolant level. Once I removed the cap it appeared that water started dripping from the bottom of the reservoir not pouring out but dripping at a pretty steady rate. Safe to say this is the issue? Haven't pulled off the evap canister yet to see if I can feel a crack though.

Felt underneath and it was wet. Did the same thing as before and got the same result. So I just placed an order with fcpeuro for new expansion tank and coolant. Hopefully I'll be back on the road by next weekend

yeah you'll be fine after that, mine was leaking from the seal , and now it's been fine ever since

So when I get the new expansion tank installed, will I need to bleed the system?

It would be a wise thing to do and would ensure your car is running properly. Make sure you use a battery charger. It takes an extra 10-15 minutes of your time but it's very hands off. If you weren't aware the car will bleed itself once you put it in the right mode, see these links:

Replaced the expansion tank today. Could not find a crack anywhere. Only thing I can think if that was indeed where it was leaking would be the low coolant sensor was extremely loose and fell out while removing the old one.
I did take it for a test drive to see if it would leak or overheat. Drove it about 30min nearby my house. Temps never got above 226F and that was when idling nvh g in my driveway.
Gonna wait till it cools down and check to see if I leaked any coolant. Still worried it was actually the waterpump leaking as googling it says that's a common issue when the waterpump goes.
