Question about Business Navi

I have a BMW 320 e90. Model 12/2006 and it has the old business i-drive which doesn't show maps.

The new versions show the map on the display.

How can I upgrade my navi to show maps? What part are need to change?

The internal cables are the same?

Thank you!

You just need the new drive.

Does yours take a nav CD or DVD?

Will yours play MP3??

Yes?? Yes it is cd or yes it is DVD?????

If it takes DVD then I think you just need to do a software update to get the maps.

It might just be a software update, check with your dealer.

If not you probably need a replacement CCC unit and that will be expensive and will probably not be supported to install a newer model in an older car.

Also, you might need a newer or different map disc, not sure.

Have you called your dealer to ask??

Surely they would be able to tell what is needed straight away?

Only the dealer can tell what software version it is.

I asked my dealer all these questions last year when it was released.

For the info of US readers, Business Navigation has a smaller 6inch screen, and a single DVD drive capable of also playing CDs and MP3 CD and DVD media.

The dealer said that the upgrade was not a software only one, and therefore wasn't offered. The reason is that the new version of business navigation uses 8 extra buttons - those short cut buttons BMW are putting into cars now in order to make iDrive friendlier. The dealership said if I was going to do hardware modifications to my car like that, I would be better off just getting to Pro Navigation with the bigger screen etc.

My car is up to change in early 2009, so I decided to wait until then and just get the pro navi... hoping to get the facelifted 2009 model 335i
