What happened to BMW Logger?
So I need to register my battery and have always used BMW logger. However, now it says it needs to update and to contact developer. I went on their site and redownloaded for mac but same. Any idea what happened to them? Or do any of you guys have any other free tool specifically for Mac to register a battery?

Just tried opening it. That app is coded for 32bit, which macOS, as of 10.15, no longer supports. Apple has told developers since Mac OS X 10.7 (released in 2011) to update their apps - the developers of BMW Logger clearly didn’t heed these warnings.
You have 2 options: downgrade your MacOS to 10.14 (Mojave) or earlier to run it, or set up a virtual machine to emulate an earlier MacOS version (which is what I’d do). You can download VirtualBox, a free virtual machine program published by Oracle, as a way of doing this. Given that 10.15 came out last year, and developers since 10.3 (released 2003) have been told to compile for 64bit in some form, I wouldn’t hold out hope for BMW Logger to be updated anytime soon (if ever). If you have an older Mac you can use that system as well to run BMW Logger. You might need an Intel machine, however (a PowerBook / iBook probably won’t run it either). The minimum requirements appear to be 10.5 (Leopard), which came out in 2007. Hope that helps! |
