I need JB4 help !

A little context: I bought my car brand new in 2008 and over the years have modded it. I purchased my JB4 between 2010-2012 and had it installed by Mike at BMS. I have never updated my firmware. Since then I've gone FBO.

I just received my MHD wifi so I can add a back end flash to work in conjunction with the jb4. Now here is my problem:

I don't know what jb4 I have: G4 or G5 ISO ?

How can I tell ?

Can I add a back end flash even if my board is a G4?

Sorry I'm a little bit of a noob when it comes to the electronic and technical stuff.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

afaik g5 board is 2014+

Id talk to BMS to verify your purchase and install and see if they can tell you more.

You likely have G4 given the installation year.

Note G5 no longer suppresses Cat codes for downpipes so keep that in mind.

I have the cat-fix installed on the car. So I think I'm clear if I update to G5 ?

Is there any detriment to having it left on the car ? It's been on for about 2 years now.

Yes that is what many have done.

G4 supports ISO firmware with the diode cut.

Not current off the shelf BEF and MHD maps because of government interference, they say why disable the CEL for DP o2 sensors if is for a race car? So will need to be either old map or custom. This is the reason JB4 app now requires your location

I honestly don’t know and would appreciate if you explain how to get around it for the JB4 itself and the B imm Bo ost BEF. MHD is non USA but I haven’t used their BEF so don’t know if country selection is an option to get the DP fault codes disable feature

yes, thats why i said it isnt meant to be left on the car

it will completely throw off your fuel trims, some say to the point where its undriveable, the car bucks and sputters, etc

im sure different DMEs react differently. youre probably just getting lucky. but yeah. remove it.
