I have a 2007 328i E90 with sport package. I want to lower the car if I go with H&R Sport Springs how long will the car last with the stock shocks? I have 14000 miles on her now?

my ride suffered noticeably after about 6000 miles (12 months), I sold the H&R Sports and bought KW V1's. The ride was bone-jarring with the blown shocks.

Pay for install once and either get a matching shock with the springs or a set of coilovers.

No sense in paying for springs only install when you will blow out the shocks later on and have to pay for another install.

Depends on your use, track? or spirited driving. In my experience coilovers are great for track cars they allow you to corner balance your vehicle and really dial in a setting that suits your driving style.

For street I've found that a matched spring and shock setup is just fine. Adjustability is up to you but again only track guys will actually maximize it. Good luck.

Several cars later, and even more springs, I finally am glad I made the jump to coilovers.
Though I do not track this car, I wanted the advantage of setting the height to achieve the look I want.
I always crossed my fingers before spring install because its always hard to guage what the car would look like front form pictures where shadows and photo angles trick your eye.
So with the ST coilovers I just got installed on my e92 335i, I have the look, great ride characteristics, and to top it off, don't have to worry about matching spring and shock rates.
I'm no suspension expert. I hope this helps your decision.

Looks like it will be coilovers for me! Gonna go with either the KW V1 or the ST setup. Thanks for all the help!

It's almost impossible to say your shocks will last xx,xxxx miles as it depends on your road conditions and your driving style. Someone who is in a harsh area or tracks their car will have to replace their shocks sooner than someone who does mostly highway driving on smooth roads.

With that said, expect your stock shocks to last anywhere between 50-70k miles with the upgraded springs.

One option you should consider is something in between a spring and coilover setup- a spring/shock combo. You can do the Koni FSD/Eibach Pro Kit Combo or H&R Sport or Touring Cup Kit as an alternative. These are priced in between a spring and coilover combo and replace both your shocks and springs with better performing versions. The FSD kit has a dual valved shock that stiffens under cornering and rides almost as smooth as stock under normal conditions. The H&R kit will ride stiffer all around but provide a more planted feel than the FSD shocks.

Hope that gives you some options!

So I should probably go with a set of H&R Sport springs if my stock shocks will last 50-70K miles? I live in FL, and most of the driving is on smooth roads.

Get the matching shock/spring set or coilovers. I installed HR springs on my car and love them but, i should have just installed KW V2's for the adjustability and in case i would have track my car.

After all the suggestions, you still want to go with springs only? Like Nick said, there is no time table when your shocks will be blown. Some people drive hard but shocks do not seem to wear at all, and there are others who do mild driving but the shocks were blown before they know it. You said the road condition there is smooth, but there's still no guarantee that the shocks will last. H&R lowering springs are said to design to work within the factory shocks specs, but does that guarantee you will be fine?

I am not being negative with you bro, just don't want you to make a decision that you will later regret. Suspension is one work I would like to do right the first time and not over and over. I had my experience and thus would like to see you do the right thing. Don't cheap out on suspension man. If you don't want to pay for it, then be happy with what you have.

Just wondering how are those H&R Touring and Sport Cup Kits? Are they any good for a daily driver, that is a also a cheaper alternative vs. the coilover systems.

It's a cheaper alternative, they are a soft ride fairly comfortable. But then why not as you mentioned go with the ST's its like what $100 more? For a real full coilover with adjust ability and built by KW.
