Basic 6 speaker to Logic 7 upgrade
I have a 2010 E92 335i that came with a factory 6 speaker professional radio (very basic). Now I got a deal for a Logic 7 system (includes 13 speaker, amp and headunit), will this be a direct fit? Will there be mounting holes already for the Logic 7 system speakers or would I need to drill new ones? Besides coding the vo, will this work?

1. you will need to get the E92 sail panels from a L7 car so you have a place to mount the front tweeters.
2. You will need dash center bezel from a L7 car to mount the center channel speaker. 3. You will need the rear side panels from a L7 car to mount the side speakers. 4. You will need to run speaker wire from the amp to the center channel location 5. You will need to run speaker wires from the amp to the side speakers 6. You will need to run speaker wires from the amp to the under seat woofers or into the doors as the Base system uses a single channel of amplification to feed the under seat woofer and the door speaker, whereas the HiFi and L7 cars use separate amp channels for each of these. |

if you get full logic7 wiring from amp the retrofit will be much easier
and be sure that for e92 kit should be from e92 or e93 or 91, not e90 holes can be cut without problem in rear side trims and rear shelf using dremel also underseat speakers from logic7 should be with enclosures because they differ from base

Sorry for resurrect such an old tread. I just retrofit mine from basic to l7 with CIC from factory. Sound is ok but chine/gong/Bluetooth and navigation voice are so soft even though I put them all on max from menu. Did yours sound ok? Any similar issues? Thanks

Hi, my car only has the base audio. I don't want to spend a ton of money and have seen decent deals on pre-owned logic 7 speakers which I'm considering. So the main question I have is:
My car doesn't have an amplifier so would simply swapping out all the speakers and adding the front and back tweeters make a worthwhile difference? Thanks. |

Not even a little bit?? I was hoping the L7 subwoofers and additional tweeters might do a little something...that's a bit disappointing. I guess it's the amp that'll take the sound to the next level.

It might actually sound worse. The L7 speakers are relatively easy to drive, but they are designed for an amp. The base "stereo" (EU) system doesn't have an amp, and may not have enough power to drive all those speakers effectively, not forgetting about the heavily boosted EQ that the base stereo HU applies. Also, unless you add a filter or crossover you will be sending a full range signal to the new tweeters....bye bye tweeters.
The "HiFi" level system does have an amp, but the speakers are fairly reasonable. I'm speculating that the improvement in SQ associated with the L7/HK ("top") system comes more from the L7 amp applying some signal processing, and the fact that it is fed a digital signal via the most bus, than it does from the physical hardware. Now, HK speakers with a decent DSP/amp would be something to look forward too. A chap here in the UK recently had a high level install done by PSSound (Brax, accutton, helix, etc) in an M5. There must have been £5k of hardware, and probably another 5k to 10k of install cost (is on YouTube).............They kept the OEM HK underseat subs. Last edited by Zack1uk; 07-18-2020 at 12:49 PM..
