Maintenance Interval Question
My 07 e90 328i has 10k miles and is a year old. For the first 8.5K miles the indicator at start that tells you how many miles left (or the date) progressed logically, i.e. it counted down 1,000 miles as I added 1,000 miles on the odometer. Then, after my first two long highway trips (each 700 miles) recently the indicator shot from 7k miles to go and 6 months to now 15k miles to go and a full year - as if it had reset to when I got the car.
Has anyone experienced this? Could it be that my road trips caused the time to maintenance to lengthen (the computer thinking the highway miles less "stressful")? Not sure it really matters since I change the oil every 5k anyway and if something breaks it is covered under warranty but still, it did cause me pause. Thanks.

Yes, that could very well be the case. Shorter trips with city driving are harder on the car than long road trips on the highway.
Also, if your car is a year old, it is due for a free 12 month oil change. Check this out: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ear+oil+change My car is exactly one year old today and I dropped it off on Thursday for the 12 month oil change although the service indicator shows 3300 miles to go. |
