It's just easier to blame Shiv. Just like people blame me for blowing turbo's and motors... Gotta love fan boyz... Bottom line, COBB didn't have enough market share on this platform to continue development.

If anything Shiv was a visionary and pushed this platform forward by opening up the door for flash development.

The sad part, you have people over at BB who don't like him. So they developed BB Flash to kill OFT sales. Unfortunate actions like that are very counter productive to this platform. Shiv pack his bags and moved on...

We also see this more and more with mod vendors who don't invest or do any R&D and just want to make a quick $... So they just duplicate another product. Another reason vendors don't want to develop this platform. But we support that by buying cheep product from them thinking we got a great deal.

Sorry for the rant but I think we need to look at the big picture before making comments.
Quality post

I always felt Shiv was treated unfairly on forums because he was not liked by many. A lot of this goes back to the way he treated his customers and his pricing strategies. If he had hired someone to do his customer service and handle forums, he would still be a major player.

At the end of the day whether we like him or not, Shiv was a very talented tuner.

I met Shiv during a One Lap of America over ten years ago. No doubt, he's a remarkably talented tuner and was a pioneer on the N54.

However, his business practices left a lot to be desired.

Agree, he made a lot of mistakes and that's why he went from having the most popular tune in the N54 market to leaving for another platform.

Wrong O-ring

This person used the wrong O-ring, and that’s why he had to grind so much of the pipe down. The charge pipe 0-ring IS NOT the same as the oil filter O-ring. The charge pipe O-ring is much thinner. It is very clear on the Cobb website that you wanted to either save the O-ring or have a new one on hand in case it was damaged. I got mine at FCP Euro for a few bucks. My mechanic installed it in 45 minutes. The instructions I looked through seemed very straightforward and mention all this as you go step by step if considering doing it yourself.

Glad you think you got that figured out for us 5 years later.
Maybe re-read the thread and you'll see that it was an on going issue with Cobb charge pipes that had nothing to do with o-rings.

Nothing wrong with it once you overcome the fitment issue, and some didn't have them. It was a QC problem.

Correct, mine popped off the first time I thought it was seated and a few good pushes locked in place. 3+ years later I am still happy with my Cobb cp.

You can read where I tried the stock charge pipe o-ring... Anyway after I fixed the mess and got it fitted, it lasted under FBO e50 for 5 years and I have since sold the car with that pipe still going.

Guess what... it ran under FBO e50 for 5 years with an o-ring from the oil filter. and went on to trap 149mph in the 1/2 on stock turbos.

The Cobb charge pipe went thru a revision in March of 2017. FYI
