MHD Freezes while Monitoring
I've been looking for a solution to this issue for a little while now and I haven't read of anyone else having these same symptoms. My issue is that while monitoring or recording a log in MHD, the app freezes and disconnects from the car whenever I give it any aggressive throttle. At first I assumed my USB-C adapter was flaky and caused the disconnection whenever the car jerked, so I ordered a new one, but the issue persisted. Today I just got a new DCAN cable, but am experiencing the same results. The light on the cable stays illuminated even though MHD loses the connection, and this behavior happens regardless of whether my phone is in its holder or I'm holding it to buffer it from any shock.
It really seems like either the DME or MHD is getting overloaded and crashes. Most times about 5 seconds after MHD freezes, my phone notifies me of a USB connection the same as when I first connect the cable to my phone. I've also tried a different phone with the same results. Has anyone experienced this? I need to be able to record logs! |

It is MHD. They have acknowledged the bug and stated it would be fixed in the next revision, but it seems the bug is still there after the attempted fix

Uninstall completely(go into your file folders and find anything mhd related and delete it manually) and then re download.
Had this issue and this fixed it. Also mhd for some reason was overlapping updates instead of overwriting. So I deleted almost 3 gigs of mhd folders even though the app is nowhere near that big to begin with.

Noticed same thing here, sometimes live gauges will freeze while just monitoring without logging (but most of the time it will not freeze if i clicked "Start log")
Will try to uninstall and then reinstall. |

Well, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling a second time with no success, but I decided to try my old phone again and it worked this time! Still not sure what's going on with my current phone, but I'm just happy to be able to log again.

Has anyone figured this issue out yet? Is this actually a known bug? And if so, how is it 5 months later and not fixed?
I can flash, pull codes and pull up monitoring while my car is turned off just fine. Start the car up and I can still pull codes if I need to. Launch the Monitoring part of the MHD app and after 15+ seconds, the whole app freezes. I am able to reproduce this issue with an LG G pad F8 + Bimmergeeks flash cable + Bimmergeeks OTG cable and also with my OnePlus 6T McLaren + Bimmergeeks flash cable + Bimmergeeks OTG cable. So that's two completely different devices that I am able to replicate the issue with. Uninstalling the app, then deleting the MHD folders in the Android file system does not fix the issue for me. I have an issue with my car and I just want to log the damn car and I can't even do that. Very frustrating. Anyone have advice? Refund for the monitoring license? Alternatives to MHD for monitoring? Thanks. |

Still freezing. On two separate devices using BimmerGeeks cables, which as I understood it was one of the preferred cables to go with, which is why I bought them. |

So you're on v2.06? Back when I was using v1.92, I never did get it working right with my main phone, but it worked just fine on my backup.

Hello all,
I realize this post is somewhat old at this point but wanted to resurrect as I am having the same issues. I can load maps, and use all functions of the MHD app with no issue other than the Monitoring portion. I select options like 'Default Settings' and went with gauges at 2x4. Yet, when I make a log, it only records one channel sometimes and varies between 325kb files to 8kb files. I have tried automatic logging and manual logging and the app just seems to freeze up. Also, my 2x4 gauges are all 'Boost' and none of them move or do really janky readings. As in, it will read -10psi for a minute, then 2.6psi for another minute, as if the refresh rate is every minute or so. I only do pulls fairly far out in the country as it's impossible to do that kind of run near the city. When I look at the MHD app in the Google Play store, it states: 'This app may not be optimized for your device' I have a Lenovo Tab3 7 and bought this specifically for MHD as I am a mostly an Apple user. I have been contemplating a new Android device as I thought it was the tablet. I am not so sure I am interested in putting it on an iOS device as I am reading all sorts of issues around transferring to an iOS. I recently wiped the Lenovo and reloaded the app and it helped with speeding the app up a bit. I am running App Version: N54 v2.21 on a Lenovo Tab3 7. Any advice is appreciated. |
