frm2 upgrade(reverse lights always on)
hi guys, how is everyone to day?
hoping someone can help. i tried to upgrade my frm1xe to frm 2 xe this week.(didnt have high beams, becaus of lci headlight retrofit and old frm) got my used frm2, pluged it in. used winkfp to code vin, ncs expert to fa write VO, and then did a Factory coding back to car VO using "factory coding" profile in ncs. Everything works(have high beams again), but as soon as i turn on igintion reverse lights come on(along with pdc and rear view camera) car thinks its in reverse. i have tried doing everything all over again. still the same. i removed the new frm, plugged old one in. problem gone. so either im coding it wrong, or could the frm be faulty? am i missing something obvious?this is driving me nuts. thanks in advance for any help cheers |

Try another FRM2, all FRMs check the reversing signal on the same pin, for MTs. For ATs it will wait for a signal from EGS.
If you did a factory coding and your tail lights are still the old, non-lci ones, then your issue is the FRM. |

I assume that you haven't coded the FRM as for an LCI car. And that you haven't touched your VO. If those assumptions are correct then I also assume that you haven't touched your wiring for both headlights and tail lights, and your turn signal on both sides blink faster.
If your new FRM doesn't have the bix option, then it's pcb is missing that part that is responsible for this operation. You can still use it, with a little trick. remove pin 41(brown/yellow) from FRM connector (from the 3 available connectors there is only one pin of those colors in the mentioned pin number) and merge it on pin 6 (white/blue with a larger section than pin 41) from the same connector. Also you might have to manually code the FRM to use the halogen for both full beam and flash to pass. I suggest that you use an FRM2 with Bix option. |

the thing is, i already bought the car with the lci headlights and tail lights installed , it had frm1 xe. and like you say turn signal used to blink fast and no high beams or flash to pass plus some bulb errors. dont know if they had changed any wiring for it to work. i first got a frm2 (non XE) thiking it was all the same to fixe these errors. didnt do much, i just coded out all cold and warm bulb checks and it was working fine, exept for the flass to pass/high beams. (thats what im using at the moment)
when added frm2 xe i didnt add the xenon VO as it already had it. production date, was already later that 03/07. so all i did was winkpf to write vin, then Fa write and tried to code the module with my options with ncs. do i need to add a diferent VO for lci headlights and tail lights? also, what do those pin changes do? thanks |

The VO needs to be changed for LCI headlights and taillights retrofit, only if you install FRM3, which I don't recommend.
The pin "merging" will activate your xenon shutters when you move the stalk to full beam or flash to pass. But that changed must be paired with the correct coding, as I have mentioned in the previous reply. Also, I strongly suggest that you buy a new FRM2 with Bix option, it's not anymore an expensive part. |
