Headlight Leveling

Does the adaptive module on each headlight control headlight leveling in addition to the adaptive headlight movement?

I originally added LCI adaptive xenon headlights to my 325i with halogen lights, however I didn't have the adaptive modules and instead cut some ABS plastic to shape and sealed the holes on the bottom of the lights where the adaptive modules would connect. This car doesn't have the sensors for the auto leveling or adaptive function, so I wasn't going to get those functions working which I was OK with. I modified the CAS and FRM on that car to add the xenon option ($522) and disabled the headlight leveling checks (AUTO_LWR_ENABLE set to nicht_aktiv). All was good, lights worked great with no errors.

I have a 330i that came with factory pre-LCI adaptive xenons, and wanted to swap the LCI xenons over from the other car. I coded out the AUTO_LWR_ENABLE check before doing the swap, however I noticed that the headlights were still leveling. The motors initialize when starting the car, and I observed the lights moving when driving up my inclined driveway, despite the AUTO_LWR_ENABLE being deactivated. Apparently this just bypasses the checks instead of disabling the function.

After swapping the headlights between the two cars, my LCI xenon lights on the 330i don't automatically level. These lights don't have the adaptive modules installed, is that why they're not leveling? My 330i has the leveling sensors and I wouldn't mind this feature, but if it means buying a used set of adaptive modules for $200 I think I'll be OK without it.

Do you know if the modules are side specific? I've been working on a set of custom LCI xenon headlights and have come across some extra AHS modules in the process. I'd have to check to see if I have an extra pair though.

I ask about whether they are side specific as i don't know if i kept everything sort out by left side and right side boxes. I have tried but not 100%. I have been told the little motors that go on the bottom of the xenon projectors themselves are side specific. These perform the left to right motion when turning.
