That's correct, the AFE mid pipes remove the secondary cats.

That's the original intent hence "race pipes." I tried to get him to hollow out the 2ndary cats but he wouldn't budge. I would say the difference is subtle, a bit more of what you have, and for me at least you could hear it a bit more at lower rpms. Definitely worth it for $250, when I bought them. Install if you have the PE should be a snap for the muffler shop. Shouldn't cost that much either to install. I thought about an intake but then I didn't feel like spending $400 for one.

Mike from Mike's Muffler is an all-around great person. Although, all you would need is to sign a release of liability/off road only install, he still won't do it. I tried to get him to install mine since I ALWAYS go to him for any exhaust work but go somewhere else. He's too nice of a guy to do it. He doesn't want to get in trouble.

No but thanks for the info. I'll see their prices. I called and texted the N54 that Bee-Muh linked me to but he never got back to me.

Anyone recommend an AA dealer in Southern California that won't run me up the wall on program time? I already bought the tune, but just need an AA dealer to install/program it. I just spent so much on headers and the tune, all this stuff is so taxing on the wallet

I realize this is an old thread but I am looking for someone to install headers in my 1 series. If anyone is interested in doing the job or has a recommendation please let me know. I'm located in Southern California.
