2008 California new Law take effect on Jan 1 of this year
These new law take effective regarding to car issues.
Car Fee law Increases the smog abatement fee that many owner pay from 12 to 20 dollars starting july 1. Reason: To help fund alternative fuel Development. Increase registration fees by 3 dollars more a year on new vehicles. Diesel Tests law Being setting up the process for regular smog check on lightweight diesel vehicles by the year 2010. It also applies to vehicles built in 1988 or later with gross weights of 10K lbs to 14K lbs. Gas Prices Requires a state study to determine whether motorists are getting less fuel than they pay for when they pump gas during hot weather, when gasoline can expand. California Energy Commission must submit recommendations stemming from the study to legislation by Dec 31. Hang UP and Drive law ON july 1 a law goes into effect banning minor from using cellphone and text messaging while driving. Same law will take effect with adult driver to use cell phone. All adult driver to use hands-free devices when they are behind the wheel. |

Thank goodness for the cell phone law. Most people can't multitask well when it comes to driving a car.

There's been studies that show texting while driving is as bad as driving under the influence. That's scary. It fascinates me what people do while driving to save time...I've seen guys shaving, ladies putting on make up, even people eating cereal from a bowl.

There are studies where they compared the realtive attentiveness of a driver when talking on a p hone vs. talking to a passenger. Something about the phone and processing just the oral input without the visual puts peopl ein a trance.

I do fine with the bluetooth speakerphone thats part of Idrive, but i never discuss deep topics or get into spirited debate on the phone, you miss out on the body language that you need to really argue with someone.
