All the bits and bobs in the boot are to do with the audio / iDrive. What modules and stuff you have there depends on what spec your car is.

Suspect that is the amplifier.

Yep, it's the combox that controls the Bluetooth (calls and streaming from your phone) and also internet access (although that is via your phone)

It won't stock system in the e9x is utter shite. HK isn't much better to be honest either.

I replaced everything in mine with Rainbow and Audison gear and it was waaaaaaay better.

It was years ago mate.

I didn't have to pay for the gear (a friend in the industry hooked me up) other than the Audison bit ten.

I think most of what may be useful is around pg 8

I'd suspect you'd not see much change from about £1000 to buy and have it installed.

As mentioned it is the combox. The base system uses an inbuilt amp in the CCC/CIC headunit itself as opposed to a separate one like with HK etc.

Someone may have just added the tweeters to the standard door speaker perhaps or just upgraded the front door speakers to a component setup.

After market wise it'll depend on budget but I've been through a few different iterations of setups. I've recently fitted the Alpine upgrade to my nephews and now going with the Vibe Omni setup which is a 3 way speaker upgrade with P&P harness and micro amp.

Depends which stock system you have. The base spec audio in mine was worse than most stock systems I've had (Mazda, Renault etc). I did a basic upgrade with just some cheap Pioneer coaxial speakers (base spec system doesn't have dedicated tweeters).

That alone was a big difference, but I can totally get people going all out with a decent amp and sub as well.
