DIY - Amber Vinyl Overlays
Parts needed:
1. Gila Silver Xtreme tint - Autozone 2. Scotch brand clear tape. 3. Scissors OK... I'm DAMN Lazy, but I wanted to see if silver tint would look better than smoked and nobody else posted pictures with silver. In the middle of this I realized that the tint was not reflective enough and also that I felt like an idiot sitting in front of my car with scotch tape. So I quit and snapped some photos. Please don't make this a sticky! P.S. Time for a beer. |

I used the overlay that was posted by someone else here to cut the shape. When I held it in place, it seemed that even if I were applying the proper way, there would still be many kinks in the tint due to the curve of the headlight. I think this may have to do with how the overlay was created. I think a professional tint shop could do this exact job in 15 minutes. |

Good try...
I'm still waiting for someone to try: 1) light grey etched glass vinyl for a 'frosted' look - would tone down the amber http://www.decalfx.com/etched_glass_decals.html 2) Titanium Silver Carbon Fibre vinyl - might work to simulate euro look http://www.decalfx.com/carbon_3_titanium_sheets.html Or even a black CF vinyl overlays and or reflective silver (not metallic silver). The CF ones might be interesting as it has a dynamic textured look, especially the silver CF. Might be the closest thing to the Euro lights look most of us are looking for.

Awesome! Are you going to use the posted overlay? For me, it didn't seem like the tint would lay right even though the pattern seemed right.

I might give this a shot. There's CF vinyl in silver available on ebay as well, like 5 bucks a foot...
