lets say your bmw overheats for any reason, does bmw cover it? and if the engine is dead do they put in a new engine or do they give your money back?

"for any reason" no. If it was BMWs fault? Yes. Its unlikely they'll "give you your money back" though.

the reason i ask is because my friends 335i overheated the other day and he got scared thinking he might have to pay for a new engine. So just trying to get some facts if anyone has had a similar experience.

Unless you put NOS in there or try to BBQ the engine, it is covered under warranty.

No. Not "for any reason".

If you destroyed the radiator by running over or into something, and caused it to overheat, BMW would not cover the damage. But your car insurance probably would.

The interesting question is if it overheated at a competitive or track event. I think the 335i shuts itself down if if gets too hot, but would BMW replace a melted engine if the car was towed in covered with numbers and stickers? I'd guess not.

the manual does warn you to not drive the vehicle when hot. There should be enough sensors / safety mechanisms to prevent your car from overheating. If it does overheat, most likely some associated sensors probably are to fault.

In all honesty, sometimes it's driver induced when a car is pushed over its limites. However, the car has safety mechanisms to avoid damage, much like a rev limiter. In most circumstances, any damage should be covered.

However, if you pull the car in with rubber chuncks in the wheel wells, brakes squeaking and rotors severely miscolored, and the outer walls of the tires worn down, you'll have some explaining to do.

Hello I'm new here. I bought a 2007 335i manual with 12,200 miles and my oil temp rises to 260-275. I could understand if i race the car but this is regular driving? Thats to high? I;ve owned a 2000 323i and a 2004 328i and the oil temp. always stayed in the middle. I called BMNA and they keep taking information and calling me back? 2 weeks of this. Don't know what to do?

I'm taking my e90 to the dealership on Wednesday for the exact same reason.

We'll see what they say.
