Isopropyl wipe-down

can someone explain the process? I know its to remove polishing oils prior to moving forward in the process, and that it is generally diluted 50/50 with distilled water, but what do you do from there? Im guessing either spray a panel and wipe, or spray on an MF and wipe. Am I missing something?

Also, if I put some CG CWC in a foam gun and soaked the car and rinsed, would this make an alcohol wipe-down unnecessary?

spray, and wipe. oils in the polish often fill micro marring and give the impression that all scratches are removed, when in fact they aren't.

I typically use it like a quick detailer. Mist it onto a microfiber towel, wipe, then flip to a clean fresh side and wipe streak free. It can be used to remove oils from polishes as well as strip off previous coats of sealant or wax.

like george said, use like a QD; spray MF to pre-condition, spray panel and wipe. inspect panel for any thing you missed during polishing and re-polish if needed. once your happy w/ your correction, do an IPA one last time to prep for LSP.

yes, many ppl rewash the car but i prefer the ISA for a couple of subjective reasons:
  • the paint feels cleaner w/ the ISA wipe down vs. a wash and seems better prep'ed for LSP.
  • b/c the ISA evaporates quickly there is little rubbing and less chance of marring vs. a wash.
  • a wash gets water into every nook and crease. this water usually ends up on my LSP applicator no matter how good of a drying job i do.
