335d mystery crank no start

Hey everyone,
My 2009 335d has started to develop a problem where it will die while driving, and then crank but not start. It has no rhyme or reason, except that it seems to be happening more frequently. The first time it happened, I was on the highway and suddenly had a loss of power, it felt like it was in limp mode / no boost, but it wouldn't rev up, so as i finally coasted to a stop, I noticed it died / was dead while coasting. no codes on my foxtool scanner. the second time, i was coasting up to a stop sign and it conked out. Both time, I had no OBD2 codes. Both times, i let the car sit for about 7-10 minutes, and it would fire up like nothing happened.
When its dead, it will crank as long as I have my foot on the brake, although sometimes it will only crank for a few seconds.
Ive researched through some of the prior threads that sounded similar, but I dont know if anyone here has experienced the actual loss of power / shutdown while driving.

pretty sure its the crank position sensor, but wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone has additional thoughts.
I don't know where I would be without this forum in keeping the enigma that is the 335d running.

I had this same issue back in October where it suddenly died after I came to a stop while driving. Cranked and would not start up. Left it sitting overnight and started right up the next morning. Replaced the crank sensor and no issues since. Just make sure the sensor is fully seated when replacing.
