Bluetooth/BMW Assist, how many have it?
How many of you guys bought/leased your BMWs with Bluetooth/BMW Assist?
I ordered my car with Bluetooth/BMW Assist because unfortunately, I'm on the phone a lot. And I use the handsfree Bluetooth feature in the car a lot. Unfortunately, BMW charges $775 for this option which in my opinion, is a lot of money. Anyway, I just wanted to let out my frustration. Which one of you guys looked for Bluetooth/BMW Assist when you guys bought your BMWs?

wow, that is alot of money for that option. why didn't you just go with the premium package?
Bmw assist is great. especially when your stuck or need help. they automatically locate where your car is and send someone out.

i'm sure the price of the premium package will be lower if it didn't include BMW Assist. i know it's a convenient feature but BMW charges a lot for it.

for bmw to not use bluetooth 2.0 EDR with A2DP for music streaming says their radio division sucks.
seriously now i've had headphones for a while that could stream music. who designs idrive? Is it GM/microsoft? I'm serial. Someone find me a firmware dvd so i can make some changes

It was originally, but not since 2003: http://old.bmwcca.org/node/9282

ahh yes when windriver dropped BSDi 5 and moved to a linux kernel. this should be easy to hack if we can get the o/s or an update.
anyone seen an upgrade disk for our idrive yet? the fun will begin..

When I was researching which options to get, I was just going to get the leather seats and skip the bluetooth, power seats, BMW assist, power folding mirrors, etc. If we were ever to go totally hands free in Texas, then I would have just bought the earpiece thing.
I decided to go with the premium package to get it all included - didn't want any regrets later. Great decision. Have used the bluetooth many times already and love it. Everyone says the audio quality is great.

Bluetooth makes it very convenient, especially since the new law in CA takes effect July 1st where we can't talk on the phone while driving unless you have a handsfree kit
