Huge Newbie in need of some help

Hi there,

I'm new to BMW (my first car too). A bit late in the game but I got myself a 2009 BMW 328i. Really enjoying it so far! I recently purchased an Ancel BM700 OB2 Scanner and I received the following codes (attached).

I recently had a new bumper installed and the car detailed, so I am not sure why the rain sensor code is coming up. It was working before these got installed at the BMW specialist. Now, whenever I turn the windshield wipers to automatic, it seems to have a timed squeeze vs it doing it upon contact with rain. I tested this spraying water from an old winded bottle and it doesn't seem to work anymore. Unsure how to fix this one.

For the FRM related code, I don't even know where to start there - it says it could be lighting issue but I'm really not sure as all of my lights seem to be in order.

Any insight/help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

BOTH those codes are related to the Connection between the RLS (Rain-Light Sensor) and the FZD
(Roof Function Center) Module, via the LIN_BUS. See the attached ISTA wiring diagram with Installation Location.
The same wiring diagram with Connector View of X13084 is also attached to assist in proper Identification.
The E598 Code indicates the FRM is NOT receiving the RLS signal for ambient light, needed to operate Auto Headlight Activation.
Possibly in doing "Detailing" of your vehicle, someone cleaning the inside of the windscreen "rearranged" the wiring.
So I would check the X13084 Connector at the RLS, particularly the White/Brown wire at Pin #3.
Please let us know what you find,
George
