E90 330d pre lci OEM professional Headunit. Coded or not Coded?

Hi friends. Im new to this site. Recently bought a 330d pre lci, previous owner has fitted apline aftermarket HU. Retrofitted the pdc tone through a speaker under the passenger footwell. Done a decent job but I'm after returning it back to oem since the alpine aftermarket won't power up.

I dont have the original HU but I've managed to get the part number. After speaking with a bmw specialist they said they think each HU is coded to each car and cannot be re coded to another car. Is this correct.

If I buy the oem HU which matches the part number will this plug and play.

Thanks

Not true. I bought a secondhand headunit with USB and Bluetooth. Had it coded to my car no problem.

Thanks for the advice. I have purchased a professional radio with the same part number. All works but there seems to be a fault with the cd player. It randomly keeps trying to eject a cd that isn't even inserted. Tried looking for another but no more part numbers the same.

If I buy a radio with a different part number will this still plug and play. I have concerns as my car has the amp and all the upgraded speaker system.
