A couple detailing questions, and a Zymol question

First of all, I currently use Zymol HD Cleans/Carbon. The shine is okay, and it lasts a couple weeks. When I go to rewax, do I have to put a coat of HD Cleans on first? Or would I be fine going right to the wax. All of this after a good wash of course.

Also, I am looking at trying something new because this combo isn't working for me on my sparkling graphite. I was thinking of trying a sealant/wax combo. I see with Jetseal you have to let it cure for 12 hours, but I don't normally have that kind of time. Is their a good polish, sealant, and wax combo I could use that wouldn't take very long to cure?

Zymol HD is basically a glaze with many fillers to fill in minor scratches. I know Zymol says to always use HD before you wax, but it is not needed. Zymol just says that because it will make the wax look 10times better and it will make the paint look better for a couple of weeks because of the scratches that were filled in. They just say this to sell more products and also to make there products look better. You never have to do anything before you wax besides a good wash ofcoruse. Sure a wax on top of a glaze will make the paint "pop" more, but you will never harm or waste your time by just waxing.

Also, I am looking at trying something new because this combo isn't working for me on my sparkling graphite. I was thinking of trying a sealant/wax combo. Well first off you do not necessarily have to let JetSeal cure for 12 hours. I have only let it cure for 2 hours a couple of times and have had amazing results. But with a product like JetSeal, the longer you let it sit on the paint the better the results. Lets just say that JetSeal on the paint for 12 hours you have reached 100% of the potential, if you only leave it on for 2 hours you will still be around 75%. The longer you leave it on, the process really slows down.

If JetSeal still is not what you are looking for than you can look for other sealants or some different glazes. My color is SG as well and I love CG Revive glaze for our color. Another good choice is CG Wet Mirror Finish or if you want a sealant try CG M-Seal. With most glazes you want to rub it in until it starts to haze, but with sealants you can just put it on, let it haze, and take it off.

If you are looking for a new wax, buy some CG 50/50 wax because it is impossible to beat for its price. Also buy some CG Speed Wipe. It is a anti-static QD that is important to use when you are done detailing because of static reasons. Whenever you are rubbing on the surface like when you wax, or seal, you are causing static energy. This in-turn will attract dust, pollen, and all air born particles. But if you finish with a quick wipe down with a anti-static product, you will greatly reduce the static energy.

If you are going to order CG stuff, call and ask for Paul. Tell him I (Jared) sent you and he will give you the best price possible.

Thanks,

Jared

Thank you for the quick response. For the other CG choices you listed, do you need to wait hours for them to cure, or are they good to go quickly.

I like to spend a good 3 hours max on the process, so waiting two+ hours for the the sealants to haze doesn't work well for me. However, I want the metallic spec to pop which I am not seeing with Zymol.

I would prob just stick with a glaze for the results you are looking for. If I were you I would go with CG Revive glaze for Revive on our color looks great. Top it with CG 50/50 wax and follow 50/50 with CG Speed Wipe and I am sure you will be amazed. Just remember to work Revive in until it starts to haze. With 50/50 you can just wipe on and wipe off when it is all hazed up. Then spray SpeedWipe on the surface when you are all finished and wipe it in.

Look around on Chemicalguys.com and see if there is anything else you might need. I would recommend some red foam pads for application of the products, Citrus Wash and Gloss to get the paint prepped when you are going to glaze and wax, MF towels are always a good idea, and CG Leather Conditioner and Cleaner are great products. Just tell Paul I sent you and he will help you out a lot.

Good Luck,

Jared

A big part of HD cleanse is to remove anything that would keep your wax from bonding. Residue from polishes (Menzerna) will keep the wax from curing correctly.

IF you can make sure the surface is clean, HD is not needed. But then it does add to the depth, and there are alternatives to using HD

Ya, he is not going to be polishing. All he does is wash and wax.

I'll probably place an order this weekend. The Zymol can be used on my girlfriend's car.
