2-piece WHEEL RESTORATION E90
Help please! I'm fixing up my wheels on my 335i e90, they are after market and I need advice.
Look at the pics I attached and you'll see the clear coat fade and oxidized areas. I plan on using a 120 grit block to get deep scuffs and then 400+ for the oxidized areas. This is where I need help! So after I sand down the wheel and get out all the scuffs, do I then use a metal polish like mothers brand? Then clear coat? Can someone describe the process in order please? I also researched something about aircraft cleaner to remove previous clear coat? Lastly, for the inner/darker part of the wheel, it has no damage but I'd like to make it cleaner/shinier, will the same polish method work too? Any sanding here? |

Check this thread out and ask the poster any questions; https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1679614
Basically; You'll smooth out any imperfections and scratches with sandpaper. Going from a rough grit gradually to a finer grit, like 600/800 up to 2000-3000 grit, then you'll use a polishing compound to get the mirror finish after the sanding, then seal them or clear coat them. |
