I did DIY. I bought black spray paint for plastic and sprayed into a small bowl to make small puddle of paint. Used a make-up foam thing to apply the paint on to the grills.

I think if you search you'll find the DIY in detail.

Total cost: 6 bucks

Wouldn't it have been easier to just spray paint the grills directly? It had to be a real bitch trying to get the paint spread evenly into each one of those holes. I would also think you would need to scuff the plastic surface of the grills first in order to get the paint to adhere properly. Again, a tedious job.

The first time a rock hits the grill or if anything causes it to flex, I'll bet that the paint (sprayed on or otherwise) will start to flake off.

Reason why I just bought the black plastic ones from UED. The front looks sooo much better with black kidneys with matching lower bumper grilles!!

I did it this way because I did not want overspray on my bumper. No, you don't have to prepare the plastic surface grills. Just MAKE SURE you use paint MADE for PLASTIC.

You can find the paint at wal-mart.

Another thing, I have been told the grills are a PITA to remove. Some have said you have to remove the bumper to take out the outer left/right grill.

I just painted mine, using the black spray paint and applying with foam applicators.
What an easy deal and great result!
The black kidneys and black mesh look awesome together.

Thanks!!!

I did the DIY paint method since I didn't want to remove the bumper (plus it's way cheaper). The hardest part of the DIY way is taping the bumper up with painter's tape since you have to be really careful around the edges. Anyway, It turned out awesome! So far no chipping either
