Did you run the water pump to short cut the drain procedure?

I then shut the car moved the leaky pipe a little(pipe was not leaking at this point when I moved it, this is the pipe to waterpump from rad). Bled the system once again( bleeding worked cos I heard the pump) ran the car again, cleared the codes and codes did not seem to come back, however the pump was not squirting water into the reserve when I opened the cap to check, only upon cranking the heater the pump started squirting water. I ran the car for approx 20 mins on the second occasion and ran the diagnostic about 3-4 times but code did not come back. can this be the waterpump on its way out or something else? also, the battery was quite weak when I first cranked the car, like very weak and I didnt wanna jump or connect a jump pack because I heard they aren't good for bimmers |

If the batterys old replace it & code/register it. A weak battery will cause all kinds of strange seemingly unrealated issues.
If your doing any work that involves using power with the engine of or coding, it's always wise to hook the car up by the under bonnet charging points to an auxiliary power source

Can this be a sign of the waterpump on its way? my cars on 98k and as far as I am aware UK car pumps last easily over that mileage, waterpumps usually go bust on US cars right? Also, is it safe to run the car on distilled water for a day or two? just wanna get a really good clean of the system |

Don't the European cars have the electric pump as an auxillary pump, the main pump being a belt driven pump. I thought that it was commonplace for the electric auxillary pump to fail and just be left as it's not really needed. Please correct me if I am wrong.
You don't need it to bleed the system out. Had no problem bleeding mine when I flushed it out. |
