E92 Seat swap RHD buttons reversed
Hello all,
I bought a very good condition dakota/coral red interior, they are sport seats with bolster support, memory and electric. They don’t have heating or lumbar support. I have them on the bench to test them with a pc power supply and do the conversion to make them ready for a LHD car. I also ordered the button controls with memory for a LHD car, the only problem/inconvenience is that forward is backward and backward is forward. The backrest works like it should so does up and down. What I have done so far. - switched the cable loom from the ex driver to the new driver seat, this is mainly to get the memory function working. - switched over the module, however this should not be needed and same result as it seems both modules are the same. I cannot find any info if others got this working the way it should, so i’m figuring out if I can switch over some cables to make back/forward work. I’m a newbie when it comes to electrical circuits so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. The photo below is the cable that goes to the motor controlling back and forward motion, this cable is the same on both seats. The blue connector goed to the module. Pin layout is as follows 4 5 — — — - - 1 2 3 1: Purple (ground) 2: small brown/purple (?) 3: small black/purple (ground) 4: Yellow (?) seems to go to same pins as blue 5: Blue (?) seems to go to same pins as yellow Below photo is the layout on the circuitboard going to the relay, did use the continuity function on my multimeter. Anyone know which wires to switch? I have refrained from doong this blindly as I do not want to damage the module/motor. |

To answer my own question, changing the blue and yellow wire on the white connector did the trick.
Seats are now working like they should. For future reference for others do to this conversion. 1. Swap over the wiring loom, you can leave the cable pictured above in, as they are the same on both seats. 2. Swap over yellow and blue on the white connector for the cable pictured above. 3. Get a LHD control unit for both sides 4. For the occupation sensor you have three options. 1. Open up the leather and switch them over 2. Get a new one so you only have to do one seat 3. Don’t swap the occupation sensor and code it out (airbags should always be active from this point on the passenger seat) (I went for this option) Other info that could be useful: 1. How to prepare your wiring if you are swapping from a non electric/memory seat: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480313 2. What needs to be coded to disable occupation sensor: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=13 Last edited by PandaNL; 03-14-2021 at 06:48 AM.. |
