Flashing DME using WinKFP error - Crank but not starting
Okay here goes,
long time reader, first time post. I have a 2006 325I N52 6spd manual. I found the parts for upgrading to a 330 intake manifold and went ahead with the swap. Drove the car without a tune for a few weeks everything was fine but I needed to update the ecu to a 330i flash so I could actually make use of the two disa valves. Went onto bimmerlabs and followed the instructions to a T. Com 1 - latency set to 1. Windows automatic drivers for the bimmergeeks cable. Followed all the instructions for set up listed here: https://www.bimmerlabs.com/help I flashed the RSA delete - success! flashed the 325i to 330i file as well - success! Drove the car around for a few days and noticed slight stutters in higher RPMs - this is my daily driver and dont have a lot of time to troubleshoot for another 2 weeks so I opted to flash back to the stock 325i file listed on the bimmerlabs site based on my VIN and check the disa valves when I had time. Flashed the car back to stock - ERROR! DSC light - ABS light - my dash is lit like an xmas tree. Now car cranks but does not start. Signature errors, security access denied, etc. https://imgshare.io/image/capture.NZaGRq I only used the .bat file and let winkfp do all the work I did not touch anything in expert or comfort mode on my own as per bimmerlabs instructions. Next I went ahead and and fully installed all the files in the bimmergeeks program so I could use inpa. -it reads the ecu so I know its not bricked - the ecu zbnumber is updated but there is no software version or flash version (0.0.0.0) I have read in other posts about using comfort mode - entering the zusb and VIN and letting the program do it for you - Tried that as well - still get the same errors. All I wanted was to go back to stock - I know its not the cable or the settings because I was able to flash the rsa delete and 330i tune successfully super breeze.I used sp-daten v60.1 from bimmergeeks download section. I have hooked up the battery to a charger which is currently set to 12v 15amps and let it charge for a few hours between attempts. I am really beside myself - can someone point me in the right direction as to what I should do next? I have left the auto update bootsector off as instructed by bimmerlabs but now I am trying to go back to stock, not sure if it needs to be enabled - I have seen on other threads screenshots where people enable auto update bootsector. I am open to remote flash as well. Thanks in advanced! |

I have the same problem. RSA delete did not take, and when I went to install any of the "stock" tunes they are not recognized by INPA. I get the message:
ERROR_ECU_SECURITY_ACCESS_DENIED__SECURITY_ACCESS_ REQUESTED My ECU is popping a 0F status code, whatever that is. I can't find the stock tune that was initially resident in my DME. I think I need to use NCS-Expert to reset the default Vehicle Order (VO) to accept a different flash. Original ZB #: 7612318 SGDB: MSV80 Part #: 7602220 None of ZB#'s I find for my module are the same as the one that was there before i tinkered with it. Interestingly, the date of the flash that was originally in the ECU was dated 3 years after the car was purchased, so it must have been re-flashed at some point in the past. |

Look at colorado's post just below yours. I have an issue from coding and just sent them my DME, CAS and key fob. They seem to be able to fix our errors. Maybe they can get In remote and fix it. Mine was beyond that. Bimmer ECU Solutions. Worth a try.

First, I reverted the VO to factory default. I also ensured that the battery was 100% charged and and hooked it to 40 amp charger. Second, I found a ZB that would load into my specific ECU and flashed it from comfort mode. This un-bricked the ECU and let the car crank, but not run. Next, I re-flashed the RSA delete from Bimmerlabs using their batch file. This took about 25 minutes and worked as advertised. After that I was able to flash the Bimmerlabs 330i tune using the batch file. I cleared the residual codes, and everything is running perfectly.😅 |

Great news! Mine somehow through the flash process lost the drive cycle PIDs so I couldn't get a inspection sticker. Flashed and reflashed back to stock and still no drive cycles. I'll see if Bimmer ECU can fix it and report back.

Where is it required that a car have drive cycle PIDs to get an inspection sticker? My '79 911 and '66 Mustang GT certainly have no drive cycle PIDs, and they pass just fine! 😂

I live in Massachusetts and they check emissions for 15 years. Next year I would have received a sticker. So it's up to each state. If you blow it off they can suspend your registration. If you get a ticket they up your insurance premiums. I either have to fix it or park it until next January.

I think your PIDs should eventually come back, but it takes either some very specific parameters, or quite a few standard drive cycles. A reflash and other standard maintenance issues (like a battery swap) causes them to go away until new ones are generated. |

Unfortunately they are listed as na so they won't come back. The sticker machine can't even see them. Out for repair and waiting for their return.

Keep us posted. I wonder if it's tied to a blank ZB # field in the UIF?
When I installed the 330i tune form Bimmerlabs my DME's "ZB No." and "VIN" fields blanked out. This image shows the original ZB# and VIN before the reflash. (Despite the fields being blank, everything works perfectly) |
