I'm loving the new Factory Five Racing F9. It's still only a concept, but should go into production as a complete build-it-yourself kit once the kinks are worked out with the 100% carbon fiber body.

Take the F9 and stuff one of these in it:

Mate that to a DTC transmission and call it a day.

Bringin it back yall!

I REALLY want to build one of these! R32 VR6 engine, AWD system from the R32, ITBs, 2.5" custom exhaust with Remus muffler, air suspension. I would love that as my daily driver

My first car was a MK2 Jetta that a neighbour gave me. The engine and running gear was shot, but the chassis and body were solid. I shoehorned in a 2.8L VR6 engine from a 1998 golf VR6, and changed just about every mechanical component in the process. It made awesome noises, and was decently quick until the coolant temp got to 70degC...

Definitely not for the Bimmer forums, but i have a soft spot for '70 Buick GSX..

Keeping it simple, a day 2 car, flowmaster mufflers & xpipes, then some buick rallye wheels to seal the deal

Alright, mine would be a 1972 Pinto with an 1989 E30 M20/Getrag manual. Keep the front Pinto coil-over and add in a E85/86 rear subframe/suspension. Ford metallic green over white/green leather interior.

Is that kit based off a donor car?

Some of the suspension, steering, and drive train could be sourced from a donor, but most of the Factory Five Kits come with all new parts now for everything but the drive train, battery, and a couple of other parts you need to source. The Cobra replica kit can still be ordered as a "base" kit, but most buy the "complete" kit. The new F9 (car in my original post) is not available yet, but is getting close to production.

Friend of mine in the early 2000's built a FF5 Cobra from my sister's '87 5.0 Mustang, so I know the territory well. I looked on their site after my post, interesting car if the kit stays under $30K.

There was a Facebook video from the FFR owner that hinted at ~$40K for the F9 kit with a full carbon fiber body. The ~ $10K upper from most of their complete kits could be a wash if you don't need to do any body/paint work on the car. Only time will tell. I built my Cobra replica from a complete kit - no donor parts. My kit came in at $30K for the complete kit plus rear axle, wheels/tires, Wilwood brakes, and a bunch of other small upgrades. Engine and transmission were purchased from BluePrint Engines at another $16K, and then I spent somewhere around $10K in additional parts, including $4K for the top, and $3K for headers & pipes. Add body and paint and you can do the math. I estimate I have somewhere around 250 hours in the build.

66 Chevelle with a full-bore track day build would be a fun project for causing havoc at the local HPDE.

I'd just buy a GMA T.50 and be done with it.
11,000 rpm V12, manual transmission and seats three. It's an updated/improved F1. I'm not sure you can get any better than this.
