They're mostly good for the life of the vehicle. It's no n54 My X5D (same motor, and turbos) has 283k miles and gets ripped on while towing constantly, and the turbos are fine. It's not unheard of for people to drop a small turbo orl arge turbo, but it's not common.

Had mine blow twice due to poor maintenance from previous owner a few days after deleting my 335d and then after I replaced mine they blew due to bearing tolerances being wrong and starving for oil, replaced all the lines and such every time. Had good oil pressure to them. Other then that I've been 50,000 miles on my new set and I'm sitting at 150,000 miles
