328i with 135i muffler questions
Hey guys, I am about to get rid of my muffer delete and replace it with a n55 135i muffler. I already have headers and with the muffler delete its just really too loud. Keeping resonator and secondary cats (maybe SS section 1 but on the fence). Anyone have this setup? I will reweld the hangers but other than that does everything line up?
Quick question about the vacuum valve. Is it possible to retrofit that on a 328i since the muffler has it but the 328i never came with it from the factory.

Unsure about your second question... but I feel like if you leave mid-pipes alone and add the muffler of choice, it should still sound aggressive but not terribly loud. Those 35i mufflers are much more... "porous" inside, if I'm not mistaken. I think you should do it.

I have a feeling that kind of set up will be fantastic. the 128 guys do it and I've heard a few videos.
For the muffler valve I looked into it for the 330i muffler I put on my brothers 328; you'll have to run a vacuum line into the engine bay and attach it to the brake booster hose(where the 330/335 get the feed from) as well as running the 2 wires for the connector. I abandoned it as I didn't strip the parts car to find out where they were going or any coding into it, |

I originally got this idea from the 128i guys since its a lot easier for them. But I have been really unsatisfied with the muffler delete, it creates a lot of rasp and doesn't really sound too good. Thought about the AA muffler but honestly 600$ for a catback is just ridiculous even with the helmholtz chamber.

IMO I think you are right on the money for a great sounding budget exhaust that isnt annoying (headers +135 muffler). Keeping your secondaries/resonator is a good idea as well.
The 135 I bet has a larger Dia pipe so you might have to do some adapting but it should fit in place still. the 325/328 have 2.5" from resonator back whereas the 135i has 2.75"; the 330i has 2.75" back so you could source a 330 catback and have the 135 muffler welded on(more of a performance gain?). If not the 128 muffler would still be louder than stock(just a bit more oem+ sound than the 135) and would be the same diameter as the 325/325s. |

Precisely what I mean, as well, OP. Keep them secondaries. ![]()
