Just to rule out the gearbox I took it on a spin today and it's doing it in both 5th & 6th gear each time around 1500-2000 rpm. Still no codes appearing on scanner.

Not on the bimmercode app I'm using anyways, other then an aux water pump it's code free. Like I previously said I did get egr & dpf codes recently but they have not returned since I cleared them. From reading other sites it's seems to be a common issue. It's going in next Thursday to have it's egr looked at and cleaned.

That's the position of the egr valve; 57% open, I think. Sounds plausible for idle.
I wish I knew more about the dpf stuff - that would be my next thing to look at. I don't know if that mass and back pressure etc is normal. Do you have INPA? |

Wish I had noticed this thread 5 years ago.
When you get hesitation when you apply some gas after you have been cruising around 1500-1800rpm, almost like you cut out for a split second your EGR valve is failing, either gunked up on the flap itself, the vacuum or electronically. This won't throw an error code most times either. B47 engines even worse for them failing, they fail electronically, throw no codes at all and can look almost new when you take them out. Just buy a new one. |

Had massive hesitation on my 335d recently, faulty throttle valve (no free movement) and dying EGR pressure convertor.

Hi, I'm new to this and in no way a mechanic, however I have been having a juddering issue especially when accelerating in 3rd. It had been happening for the past month and since I had one of my rear tyres replaced, the juddering instantly stopped. Just guessing that the difference in grip between the tyres (it's an X-Drive) was causing minor traction differentials (and juddering), but not enough for the traction waring light to flash up. Might be worth checking the condition of all tyres for uneven wear.
