So I got my Karcher foam cannon and it seems to make great foam, I just filled up the container with CG Max Suds II and sprayed away. My only complaint is that it is a pretty small reservoir cup.

I do have a couple of questions for those of you that use a foam cannon.

Do you just dump pure soap into the reservoir? Or do you use a mixture of product?

Also I tried searching a bit and could not find any techniques on what to do after the car has been foamed. Do you guys just leave the foam on and carry on with a two bucket wash method after the car has soaked for a few min? Or do you rinse off, then continue washing.

Any input on technique would be much appreciated!

mixture of product and water, you can search around for what ratio others use but its really a trail and error type thing.

this is a topic almost as controversial as what wax is better.

from what i read this is the order from most popular being first:

1. foam the car, let foam soak for 5 - 10 mins, rinse, then wash using the regular two bucket method.
2. foam the car, let foam soak for 5 - 10 mins, w/o rinsing wash using the regular two bucket method.
3. foam the car, then wash using only a rinse bucket.
4. foam the car, let foam soak for 5 - 10 mins, rinse and dry (used only for quick washes when car is not too dirty and time is limited)
5. foam the car, let foam soak for 5 - 10 mins, rinse, wash using only a rinse bucket by applying foam to each panel as you use your wash mitt.

i was looking into getting a foam gun, figuring it would help save time during my wash process. in doing research i was surprised to find it actually increases the wash time as the majority of guys are using foam cannons as a method to avoid marring, pre-soak to remove loose dirt then regular two bucket.

its for this reason that i didn't bother getting one. hope someone can prove my research wrong.

I have one and your are spot on. It definitely adds time. I got it to decrease the chance of marring cars that have already been washed. Experimenting I found that it's bes for a preasoak. I also use it as a presoak for ONR washes. When I left the foam on and used the two bucket method I found that it was hard to see what spots I missed. Also I only recommend using it as the sole wash method if you are using Deionized water to rinse it and not touching the paint to dry it.

Ok, I am a complete dumbass. As I was reading, while trying to pay bills, and talk on the phone, I saw this thread. Stupid me was thinking that he was saying foam the car FIVE times. Yes, I would agree with that post. The foam gun will take longer but is better for the car. IDIOT! Had to throw another one of those in there for myself!!
