What Adapters work with Carly for BMW?
Hello all,
After owning 6 different BMWs over the last decade, I've amassed a hodgepodge collection of coding adapters and dongles. They all work on different BMWs, and they all have different capabilities. However, I've recently purchased a 2011 E82 135i, and none of my adapters/apps seem to be able to do more than read the most basic codes. A few friends have recently recommended Carly for BMW, which seems like a perfect fit for my needs (some simple coding using menus as opposed to using NCS Expert). My question is, what adapters work with Carly for BMW? The reason I ask is because I already own one of these adapters, and I'm curious if it works with the Carly app, or if I need to purchase their proprietary adapter: So, would this adapter work with Carly or not? Thanks for the input! |

Carly has been picky lately. I highly suggest the official one. It actually updates the firmware to the dongle from the Carly App, so there is some dependency. iPhone = WIFI, and Andoird = Bluetooth

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Was just about to purchase Carly full edition after using it cracked (I only needed on feature for a friends car and then deleted it after, still bad I know) as I knew it worked perfectly with my ELM327 BT dongle and LG G3.
After reading this, I will perform some tests with the free version first and feedback. |

I could clear codes with my old dongle but not code with it. Are you able to code with the ELM327?

Sorry to bring an old thread. But any suggestions on a generic OBD2 adapter con Carly App? I have a E92 M3 and a Porsche GT3; wife drives an Audi Q3; and I cannot stomach having to buy 3 different adapters for usd 70 each, given that I only perform regular maintenance.

So what we are all saying is that there are several other options, all are cheaper and as good or better than Carly and because Carly is now a subscription ripoff. The adapter is the least of the cost and Carly is no longer an acceptable solution, the way they will learn this is if no one wastes their money with them.

I have an iCarSoft for my 911 and it’s fine for most things... I like it actually. It’s the cheapest way to reset service reminders on a Porsche.
On my E91 if I need more than bimmercode (car debug basically) I’ll try a bimmergeeks cable and Rheingold first. |

Sorry to bring back this old thread, but I guess I need to share my experience with Carly.
I have a Carly adapter bought few years back and bought their full version back then. Have not been using it for more than a year. Yesterday, my 335i had problems and the yellow engine light in the dash so I plugged the adapter in my car and connect it to my iphone. Yes, works the same like in the past, then it told me there are 2 issues with the engine. click on the issues, it asks me to buy their new adapter. WTF? further checking on their website shows that some of the functions( that I already paid) are on subscription basis. Conclusion: I ordered an Autel MaxiCom from Amazon. |
