Gas will probably last you forever, I heard the electric ones break much more often, plus running another wire for the pw seems like a pain to me. For car washing needs you dont need anything powerful, I have a 2700psi gas one but when using it on the car I run it at very low RPM's, too much pressure and you can take the paint right off. If you go gas make sure you get one with a Honda motor.

I am also in the market for a power washer. I hesitate getting the gas powered washer for 2 reasons, 1) gas price and 2) having to go buy gas. I have a few yard tools that run on gas and I know how I hate to drive out to the gas station and refill those 2 gallons gas container.
Anyone here uses an electric power washer and like it? I plan to buy a power washer mainly to do light cleaning on the exterior of my house/driveway. Is the 1800 PSI electric power washer from Lowes any good?

For washing car go with electric, plenty of power, practical(since I doubt you need to move around too much, the 25' hose works well for car washing). The problem with my old Karcher was the hose kinks and develop leaks after about 2 years but newer model has more flexible hose, and better attatchments. BTW, new hose with gun cost around $50 so not too bad. Gas only good for striping paint of house siding not good for car washing. too much pressure would push water into places you don't want to in the car anyway. For example I hosed down oil/grime of the underside with Karcher (w/ the help of simple green), no problem. |
