I am converting my CCC system to CIC. I bought the head unit and display so far and will run it with the CCC knob at first. My end goal is to have it fully updated maps, combox, connected drive, BMW apps, ect.

Should I use an emulator or have it script activated? How would I even script activate it in the first place? I went on car technology and BMW coding forums and I am very confused about the process.

To test yourself, get your 1B file which is needed to generate the map update FSC.

If you are successful getting the 1B and map fsc, then determine what software version your CIC is on.

Script would ensure that you have FSC's for BMW Apps, Sat Radio (depends on what year HU it is & software level of CIC) etc.

Emulator is a good simple solution I've heard of some delay/sluggish running issues with emulators installed. YMMV

I bought a Combox for $15 today and a emulator. For the Combox I only have a TCU so I can just repin the old connector into the combox connector. Do I need any other adapters for the other connectors? What do you do about the double barrel connector?

I don’t know the connection part but it is NOT easy task to get bmw apps and internet live working. Do the research on it. Good luck

You probably don't need the USB or aux input. If you have issues connecting with bluetooth you may need the bluetooth software update which needs the USB connection to the combox along with USB being enabled w/ coding.

E-series combox for $15 is a good deal. Where did you find it? Most of the ones on ebay are F series.

I got it at a pick and pull and It was in a puddle of water. The entire car was moldy and only one door still worked. I am assuming it is not fried since it did not have power. I hope it works since it is activated with BMW apps. Do I need a MOST terminator if I only have TCU?

Removing the TCU and replacing it with combox will not require a terminator since it is a 1 to 1 swap on the bus. Terminators are really only needed if you don't have the capabilities to re-patch the most bus. And I am not sure what you were asking about with barrel connectors.

My combox works! Non of the farka connectors fit and the h can wires are not connected but it is alive.

I assume I need to slice into the pdc module. What do I do with the farka cables?

Update:I got it working, I just ripped off the plastic cover on the cable.

Did you figure out the script activation vs emulator part? I had an emulator which did nav, backup cam, dynamic lines and PDC visualization on the screen.

I just installed an android screen (avin type) and its conflicting with the emulator so I'm trying to figure out another option to keep all the idrive stuff.

I am going the emulator route but I do not know anyone that can update my CIC head unit to C16. I have everything installed now and BMW online shows up but it won't tether the internet connection from my phone. Currently my cic is on C08.

I read aloot about you and have seen aloot of people recommnding your name when someone has issues with cic idrive retrofit. Unfortunatelyi am also one of them �� and i have come to you to ask for a favour. I live in australia and i have recently purchased a bmw e93 335i n54 2008. It came from factory with CCC Idrive installed which had a mulf 2, tcu, analogue tv, 6cd changer, a mobile in center onsole, bmw connect activated (which stopped working years ago) and a sos button on the roof. But it looked very dated and as i have previously have been the owner of a bmw e90 lci, i really wanted the updated CIC Idrive in this car. After aloot of research i found a donor car bmw e90 lci 2010 with this system installed excluding tcu and it had tv and a mulf 2 installed. After installing it in my car i am able to use almost everything except the navigation and voice control. I tried aloot of things but seriously i am not able to figure how to get to code it. Please if you can help me with it i am ready to even pay something because i simpally dont want to use an emulator. And as of now i have not installed the combox i am running the tcu and mulf2.
I have a windows laptop with all coding functions installed ncs expert, dummy and winkfp with the k+dcan cable. Soo if you can we can perform this through the team viewer. Whenever you have time.

If youre not going for emulator, cic patch is the proper way. Having kdcan limits your options to flash it so first check if cic version is c1a. If yes i can assist you to enable navigation
