Pilot Bearing Removal with Bread?

Hey all.
I want to heed the advice of many and not do the pilot bearing, but at 90k it does not look the nicest and I don't want to pull the transmission any time soon. I've seen the bread and screw trick for crankshaft-mounted pilot bearings, has anybody done the same with our input shaft-mounted pilot bearings? The hole is pretty small and I know people do it with grease but I don't have the ability to get a grease gun for a few days, and I have a nice half loaf of bread on my counter top. Of course I also have the flywheel pilot bearing tool because it was in the same section on FCP but of course that isn't going to help and I don't want to end up in another horror story of pilot bearing removals trying to makeshift something.

Thanks,
ab

I've decided against this because I don't think bread will fit through that tiny hole enough to provide any meaningful pressure. Oh well, pray for my pilot bearing, I hope failure isn't too common in our cars

I opted not to replace mine when I did my clutch, just inspected it and greased it, even though I have a blind bearing puller I decided to not deal with the possible headache. I haven't heard of any failures of the pilot bearings on N54 cars, I wouldn't be too concerned especially since you're only at 90k. Dont stress too much about it. I have heard of people drilling a bigger hole but the bearing race/shell is made of some pretty hard metal. If you really want to do it then just invest in a cheap blind bearing puller. I'm sure there are very cheap ones that will fit the application. Otherwise like I said before, don't stress too much about it.
