Replacing old Professional Radio with new one from another BMW model
Hi,
Since my e90's (year 2006) Professional Radio pixel display faded out and it is only possible to see something in very cold conditions, I decided to replace the current head unit with another one from a different BMW model. I found one Professional Radio unit from X1 (year 2012). This unit's display shows everything perfectly, but once I put the unit in, I start to hear popping sounds through my speakers and when I turn on some music, sometimes the volume just disappears. Could this be a coding issue? Meaning that I need to reprogram the new unit to work with my car? I know that it is possible to buy a new pixel display and replace it, but at least in my country it would be just cheaper to buy another used Professional Radio unit and as far as I know units from X1 don't have that fading pixel display issue. |

Most likely it's a coding issue. You need to know what sound package you had (base, hifi, or logic 7) and code accordingly. I've done the same thing to my radio with logic 7 and all works well, so it should not be a hardware issue.
