I want a smooth and comfortable ride but I think dropping will make the ride stiffen and rough..?

If you have the budget, coilovers are definitely the way to go. They allow you to adjust the ride height exactly to your specs and provide a full suspension upgrade that really transforms the car.
With that said, for most street applications, coilovers are overkill in that not everyone uses the adjustability to the full advantage. Springs are more than adequate if you are looking to slightly stiffen the handling and don't plan on adjusting it regularly. |

i would say spring might not be able to give you the look you want if you want an aggressive drop~

Coilover is a better choice. Keep it at the softest setting, it'd still be a firmer ride but handling will be much improved.
Springs are bad especially on the XI is that the shocks couldn't match the spring rate, so your car rides like a boat after the drop.

From what I understand, because there's not enough shock compression for the spring, so it bounces.

Hmmmm ..... all I can tell you is that after 1 month and nearly 2,500 miles, I can't imagine going back to the stock Xi suspension.
I love my KWV3's

i've put about 600 miles on my car (335i e90) since installing the kw v1's. as long as you don't get too aggressive with the drop - which i did initially - the car is pretty damn usable day in day out. i would prefer it a bit softer for the morning commute but overall i'm pretty satisfied. i don't think you'd be upset w/ the K3's...i don't really think you have very many option options besides just springs..
