I thought you never get demerit points on your Canadian licence if you get a ticket in the US?

Anyone know if CA, AZ, NV, FL, WA have agreements with Ontario?
How about the provinces?

I'm pretty sure all provinces and territories are "in agreement".

Thanks.... I don't mind fines, I travel to those states all the time. See my other thread on insurance....wanna just see if I was bad in other states if I would lose points. NY and MI sounds very good to me.

I got pulled over once in South Carolina (was doing 80 mph) and both cops approached my car with their service revolvers drawn. And these weren't .38's. Scary shit.

The reciprocal agreement used to be between ON, QC, MI and NY.
Now, all Canadian provinces are included. In some parts of the States, they will escort you to the police station, and "hold" you till you pay the ticket... because they can't otherwise guarantee payment! |

As for the US I'm guessing here, but I would assume most states sharing borders with your respective province has this type of agreement. Ont seems to have MI and NY as for Qc, NY and VT.

You should visit other parts of your country sometime. The BC provincial police would be called the RCMP

I call BS. While I don't dispute that ONTARIO and QUEBEC might have some form of reciprocal demerit program, last time I was ticketed in BC (2, or maybe it was 3 years ago) no demerits passed onto my ALBERTA license. I would have known .... it was rather a large ticket
For all you people down in eastern Canada, can you provide a link that shows ALL CANADIAN PROVINCES have a reciprocal demerit program? How could you possibly know whether or not BC reciprocates with other provinces when you don't even know who patrols their highways .... ?

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dan...er/demerit.htm Scroll down to the part that says: Demerit Points for Out-of-Province Convictions * Drivers convicted of a driving related offence in the State of New York, the State of Michigan or any Canadian province or territory, will have home jurisdictional penalties such as demerit points and/or suspensions applied to their Ontario driver record as if the offence occurred in Ontario. |
