Ok, let me get this right...
if im doing a quick detail on my car...just to get out some superficial scratching, this is going to be what i want to do:
wash - clay - then fill the scratches (example of filler please) - then im going to want to use something like colourx to polish/wax to finish (are those considered sealers or am i looking at another product. please fill in the gaps, like REAL slow...cause im a total moron lol. wash clay fill seal wax ? YaY or NaY. |

dont fill, it will only make you more fustrated than anything... because if you use a glaze, you will start seeing scratches again. save up for some quality polishes, set some time aside, and get the job right. don't just keep putting a band-aid on it.
but if you insist... 1. CG Citrus wash n Gloss (good soap for pre-detail.) and to maintain CG Maxi Suds II 2. claymagic clay or CG clay 3. the only glaze i have used is CG EZcreme glaze 4. CG jetSEAL109 is my favorite, Zaino products are also good, but not as easy to apply, collinite wax is the longest lasting 5. depends how much you want to spend... CG waxes are unbeatable for their price, Swissvax is really good, but expensive if you want to get the job done right and get rid of th scratches for good, get a FLEX XC3401 polisher and Menzerna Super intensive polish(for deeper scratches) PO106FF, PO85RD (optional), and LC orange, white, and gray pads. |

yeah, started off good...then you lost me LoL. how bad is it just to wash and throw some colourx on it every once in a while.
I mean, if the paint is in good condition... i just got the car a month ago. I saw some teenie swirls and i was able to get them out with one or two mild coats. |

Scratch-X is fine IMO, but it is made for the occasional scratch, not for polishing the whole car.
If the OP isn't comfortable purchasing polish, a polisher, some lights, and spending the hours doing paint correction, he should take it to a pro detailer for a polish once a year or so. Then he could maintain it thereafter.

if you want a one step product, i can't but mention Duragloss 105. excellent durability (6 months+) and easy to use. it has a slight cleaning ability as well as being a sealant.

If you're set on filling don't seal - sealants and glazes don't get along in general. If you really want to do max filling get Some Meguairs #7 and some #16 or #26 and go to town (so wash, clay, #7, #16/#26).

Haywire, this forum has so many awesome detailing enthusiasts, they're just wincing at your wish to fill / hide your scratches, hehe.
But if you're insisting on filling the imperfections, I second picus' recommendation for the over-the-counter (OTC) Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze & #26 Yellow Carnauba Wax. Until a few months ago, I used that routine for 10 years, and I have to tell you that combo is still one of the best / cheapest / easiest at filling / hiding imperfections. It hid an extremely swirled 12"x12" so well (from a contaminated clay bar), my friends and I couldn't tell there were swirls after I used that Meguiar's combo. That's because #7 Glaze is an oil based filler, which is better / great at hiding imperfections. But keep in mind that the #7, #26 combo won't last very long! I was often disappointed at how poor the durability was (like a few weeks vs months w/ a sealant). Note that Meguiars mentions their new NXT 2.0 sealant will interact well with #7 Show Car Glaze. I did try that combo (and really like NXT 2.0 in general), but it did not even come close to filling as well as #7 w/ #26. Hope this info helps. I have permanently shelved my #7/#26 after I got my Flex buffer and switched to CG EZ Creme Glaze / Jet Seal 109 Sealant / CG 5050 Paste Wax, but I was recommending based on your criteria.

the pros use the flex random orbital and it seems to work out really. I think george from detailedimage said he left it in the same spot for 30 seconds and it still didn't burn the paint! I'd say that machine is safe and great for all sorts of paint correction. The PC is a lot cheaper, but it'll take a lot longer to achieve the same results
