Red lines on Navi?

Sometimes I see read lines over the freeway/highways lines on the navigation system. Does anyone know what that signifies?

It's definitely not traffic b/c the red lines are always at the same location.

Heh, you answered your own question - Red lines signify major freeways/highways...yes, I am serious.

Normal roads are yellow.

No. I believe red lines are road areas that are disconnected/being built.

I saw a whole bunch of red lines at the 710 and 210 meeting point where the tunnel interchange connection construction got cancelled due to protests.

Post a picture of what you're concerned about. FWIW, the major roads on my screen are red, minor roads are yellow, waterways are blue, calculated route with navi is white overlayed on the road (red or yellow).

Also, could someone post a picture of the traffic triangles?

I think it may be a distinction between two-lane and multi-lane highways. I get red on the cloverleafs and ramps where two interstates meet. Both have been in existence for a long time, so it doesn't seem to be a "new road/being built" indicator. As mentioned, traffic congestion is indicated by little black chevrons pointing in the direction of traffic flow.
