E92 335i Battery Coding Help Needed!
Hey guys,
I recently got an Antigravity Battery (H6-Group 48 40Ah) for my 335i and need to code it into the car to make sure that its not going to overcharge or damage the battery, etc. I've tried a few different methods to code it into the car like Protool, NCS expert as well as NCS dummy. My problem is that nothing seems to change the battery capacity when I go to check it using INPA. I know that I should code the battery change into the vehicle order so that it cant get erased in the future, but when I go to add a field into the VO, anything below -A070 is rejected (I would need -A040 for a 40Ah) and even when I tried to put in -A070, that didn't change anything in INPA. I really need some help on this because I'm rather hesitant to drive my car right now without the new battery coded properly; the last thing I want to do is to fry a brand new $700 battery..... Thanks in advance! |

If it will make you feel better, you should be able to enter -A040 (40AH AGM) in your VO but only if you have CAS flashed to CAS3.C08 or later. Before CAS3.C08 you could use -B046 (46AH FLA). Only certain precoded values are allowed in the VO. |

I'm pretty sure that my CAS is flashed to CAS3.C09, so it should be up to date enough. The value for 40Ah agm shows up in NCS Dummy, and I'm pretty sure that its an accepted value by the module, but I may be wrong. |

Yeah It's expensive but 44 pounds of weight savings from the corner of the car sounded pretty nice, plus these lithium batteries last a good bit longer than regular ones (~7yrs vs 3-4). Also on the topic of specs, the battery may be half the Ah of the stock battery, but the antigravity battery is 1500 cold cranking amps (vs 800 stock), and thus discharges a lot slower, so it's actually a pretty comparable substitute.

That's the reason onboard electronic regulation is required in this application In any case, don't take my word for it - call Antigravity and ask about it |

Interesting battery, hope it works for you but the Ah is more important than the CA in these cars.. I would think coding the battery is important in this case since you might see a bigger voltage drop for X amount of amps compared to say a 80Ah battery. This would throw a excess battery drain error.
This is all speculation though different type of battery and their voltage drop characteristic. I would contact the manufacture to see what the recommended coding is for the battery. It might be different than the 40Ah rating.. |

OP did you ever get around to coding it for the 40ah properly? I'm looking into this battery for when I need a new one (mine's 7 yo) and I saw the m3 guys saying they coded it to 40ah no problem.
