My detail guy does this... http://renuauto.com/foggy-headlights/

Definitely easier with power tools, but can be done by hand with wet sanding and polishing. Expect to spend at least an hour on each lamp to get a 'like new' result. The kits have everything you need...but you can also pick up everything individually (sand paper, polish, pads, etc) and have plenty left over for the next time for about the same money.

Someone said headlights had a clear coat...really? Thought they were the same plastic all the way through...(no coating).

Last time I checked, an Audi bodyshop in my area was doing professional headlight polishing for $30-60 per headlight, so you might decide to just take your car to a bodyshop. This can save you a lot of money compared to purchasing new headlights.

Best way to do it is using 400 grit wet sand paper that would take away the coat of the lense but that is ok because its damaged anyways that use 600 and 800 to be safe and buy a high quality clear coat if using spray can I recommend spray max glamour high gloss clear coat is a 2 part clear coat on a spray can and then Apply it to the lenses. let it cure for a week and then buff them out. That should do it.

7 year old thread, thinking the person has long since made a decision.
