remove V3 for brake light reset?

do they need to access the ECU? im going to make sure no new software will be loaded or else i'll leave it as it is, my SA said no software will be updated, whichever version is on the car right now they will use that to reset the light

The first time this happened to me I took the car into the dealer with, at that time, Procede V1. They did the work and reset the brake warning without a problem.

better safe than sorry. Besides by the looks of the install video, it doesn't take too long to do the whole install... What maybe like 30 minutes at the very most?

I'd remove it even if I drove by the dealership, especially these days :-)

Do you value your warranty? Is it worth 15 mins of work? Your call.......

I believe there was a brake light reset procedure posted on this forum a while ago. Worth a search.

Ha ha...it's interesting to see the different feedback when it comes to taking a tune into the dealer. For what you're having done to your car....I wouldn't think you'd have to worry about a thing. if it was me...I'd leave it in. But we all have different types of relationships with our dealers....so your responses to this type of question will probably be 50/50.

I'm going in with my vishnu dual cone intake next week....I'm not expecting any "heat" from that visit either. Ha ha..."heat". that was funny.

I'll let you know Jeff. I'm going in for my 1 year oil change. They already know I have the intake...I should it to my CA and a few SA's (my SA was off though) when I went down a few months ago to drive a e90 M3.

I always hate reading these threads. It should become a sticky stating "Better safe than sorry...NO MATTER WHAT THE MOD" Wouldnt you rather spend 15minutes uninstalling the V3 rather than spending time trying to get your warranty back Hell, these days, dealerships will probably check for a piggy if you bring it in for a cupholder replacement (at least the dealerships around me would)

procede is out, it's not a 15 removal, removing all the electrical tape took a long time especially you have to be very careful with the male pins, so tiny could easily bend and break, one of my male pins is bent and i wouldnt dare to bend it back, i marked everything on the procede wires now so it will probably take 30 min to put back everything, i hate to create new thread like this too but wasnt sure if they will need to access the ecu to reset the light. anyways, thread is closed.............

i was just kidding about hating threads like this. This is a forum and threads like these are fine and helpful for some. It just needs to be know that depending on dealerships these days, leaving any mod in can be bad if they decide to check. Always better to be safe you know.

+1 Reset yourself. It will take you all of 20 secs. to complete. Mine has not shown up for 6K miles now.

Try to reset it; if it doesn't reset that means it's an active fault and the dealer is gonna have to update it to v.29.2. Take it out before you bring it in, your SA will thank you for saving them the headache. TRUST me I've been through it. If you have a pre-doomsday V3 harness let me know if you are interested in the pinout diagram (I wrote it down while I was taking it out for future reference).
