Exclamation Bumper Clip Broken or Missing? - HELP!

Hello guys,

I just purchased a '06 330i last Saturday and it has one problem. Where the drivers side bumper meets/attaches to the fender, it is loose. The seller said it was missing a clip which holds it tight and the dealer would fix it for $100. I was hoping to get a little more information on how the bumper connects to the fender and what part need to purchase to fix this myself. Pics below.

Looks like a screw or maybe both are missing. You can see the pilot holes in the pictures. I know from taking mine off that there are two screws that hold the bumper to the side panel, at that exact location.

So its not really a clip or anything? but just two screws that pull it together?

i dont know about the right side, but left there is a metal piece that attaches to the bumper part that you use as points to screw the two bolts up into the car. you should probably still have that there. you may have lost one of the two bolts. it's really easy to fix yourself. you're probably going to have pull back the wheel well plastic a little to get to it if it's not exposed enough

btw---the clips are mainly along the edges like further down the inner wheel well close to the bumper that spans across the underside of the front bumper to the other side.

they are easy to unscrew with a normal metric socket wrench. some of my clips were rusted out though, and basically wouldn't unscrew OR got yanked out (gf parked on top of a parking cement block fml) and messed up the screw holes.

you will most likely not have to touch the clips at all. match the screw from the store (if its missing) with the one already on there, and good luck

They're clips, you snap them in so the screws don't rip the plastic bumper. Go to real oem, they're prolly no more than a dollar to buy

Damn I forgot but on my coupe I think it was a clip first and then two screws behind the fender lining that should keep it in alignment

What I'd do is open it on one side and compare it on the other if you don't find a solution!

But it's deff fixable so no big deal.

Hi All, I just bought a 2006 330i with the same exact issue. (Bumper clips missing) However, I'm wondering what the black plastic piece does which is pictured in the previous post. (Part Number: 51117058447 and 51117058448) I don't know where it could possibly be used. Does anyone have any pics of the black piece installed?

Black plastic bumper cover piece

So found out about the black piece today and what its used for. This piece is actually attached to the fender lip itself and provides the support for the bumper cover. The screws for the bumper cover actually drill into the black piece via the fender lip. Word of warning though, the screw holes on the black piece are easily stripped if the bumper cove has bee repeatedly removed and replaced. The previous owner of my car had done this and I'll have to replace the black piece on both sides of the car.

This is a reach for the moon, but did you ever replace them? If so how easy was it? Remove old black screws and take the part out put the new one in and replace the black screws with new ones
