08 325d bolted diff replacement
Hi all
My 2,35 diff (manual car) needs replacing. Ideally I would like to find a bolted replacement so I can fit a LSD. I have a few questions: 1) the sticker says 7571188 and realoem says 7571189. What’s the difference between those two numbers? 2) is it possible to source a bolted diff with roughly the same ratio which fits on my axles? Which part number / time period should I look for? |

I think you just need a pre-facelift diff from a car of the same spec, fuel type, and gearbox. RealOEM of 7zap will help you find the part number.
Good luck finding one on eBay. They're like unicorn horns. |

I was thinking of 335i ones. iirc only 10% of them had the manual gearbox.

2.35 ratio diffs are fitted to manuals. 2.81 is for autos. I’ve got both types and have had them both in my manual 330d. The 2.81 makes the car feel quite perky in the mid to higher gears but first is way too low really. My 56 plate has got the bolted diff which thankfully made it a bit cheaper when I had a quaife lsd fitted. Best mod ever, love it. 2.35 diffs do seem a lot harder to come by and do command a premium over the 2.81 auto diffs, as said, they’re about £500. I don’t know how you tell whether they’re bolted or welded without opening them up though.
