Interested in a E90 335i w/N54
Can someone give me a run down on everything. I really like the sound of the 2011 E90 w/N55 but I know the N54 can definitely put out more power and it’s less reliable unfortunately. Does a lot of expensive stuff on the N54 tho break easily, anything major? Is it really that bad to own a N54?.. not sure if people are trying to scare me or what lol

All questions which have been asked and answered before, ad nauseam. Owning one, the only two expenses I’ve incurred which are different than if I’d owned an N55/N52 are one failed injector and a walnut blast. I’m stock though. 140K miles. Original water pump, turbos. Abusing the turbos / injectors by tuning it aggressively is not a recipe for longevity. As with any car, have about $1.5K set aside for incidentals. |

There are just so many things that can act up and put the car into limp mode and/or leave you stranded. If you can't do the maintenance/repair work yourself.....the cost of upkeep on them just isn't worth it.
