Checking CBU
I just got my 2011. The PO claimed that he had a cleaning done, but didn't have any paperwork on it. If it's just a matter of getting new intake gaskets and spending a Saturday afternoon, I'm thinking about pulling the intake off to check the condition. What do you think? Is there anything else I would need on hand to just check? If there's much crud, I'd go to the work of cleaning. But at the very least, I'd feel better knowing the condition.
The car has an EGR delete and I'm considering meth so I wouldn't have the problem going forward. But if possible, I'd like to know my baseline. Thoughts? |

In case anybody comes across this thread in the future, I decided to go ahead and tear into it. It's not a bad job to do. Pull the cowl and strut brace, then the charge hose (leave throttle body on the intake). A couple of electrical connections (the hardest one is toward the back underneath), then the 10mm and 11mm mount bolts and the intake comes off. I got the gaskets at tunemyeuro because they were cheaper than getting them locally.
If you don't know the condition of your build-up, it's only $25 in gaskets and a couple hours of your time (the first time you do it - after that, you could do it in under an hour). |
